An interest in the use of natural remedies resulted in the acquisition by Dr. Jacques Vandenschrik of a formulation that would boost the immunity system of cows and help them combat mastitic infection. Mastop-H™ was born.
The fact that this pathological process is reversible when detected at sub-clinical level led to the subsequent development of an early detection device that is based on the well known fact of an increase in conductivity at the outset of mastitis. By electronically measuring the electrical conductivity of the milk using the Mast O Test™ infection could now be detected before it became clinical or indeed visible by macroscopic means. The identification of the quarter at risk and its separate treatment sets this system aside from the general application of antibiotics and the risks that this implies.
Evolving naturally from cure to detection, we had to complete the last leg of the process and come up with a solution to prevention. The formulation of a wide range of disinfection solution came about. We attempt to find the right compromise between efficacy, user friendliness, cost effectiveness and environmental friendliness. We adapt to the surfaces needing disinfection and include the most appropriate ingredients in our formulations. We can mention chlorhexidin and stabilised glutaraldehyde . Whilst glutaraldehyde has been widely used in medical and related applications, a satisfactory method for attaining stability (tested according to internationally accepted methods) at pH comprised between 6 and 7.5 and for solutions containing up to 20% glutaraldehyde had yet to be found. Thanks to the hard work of our scientific staff and continuous co-operation with the Authoritative Chemistry Departments from several Universities, not only have we produced unparalleled stability but we continue to perfect our processes for the best efficacy at the lowest possible concentrations of active principle. Demonstrations of our success can be found in the efficacy of Pentanex 2.7 (2 Hours Sterilising Solution) or the Permasan (Inanimate surface disinfection with long lasting residual efficacy), the latter being an ideal solution to the problem of disinfecting high risk areas or areas that have to comply with high levels of bio-cleanliness.
